Unusually for Arabian Peninsula, majority of Dubai’s
population are not Arabs. Dubai’s residents come from all over the world, mainly
from Asia and Europe. Almost 25% of Dubai’s population are originally Iranian,
and significant percent of it residents come from India and Great Brittan.
Arabic is the official language in United Arab Emirates, therefore it is
official language of Dubai, but Urdu, English, Farsi and Hindi and are also
widely spoken. Malayalam and Punjabi are often heard languages in Dubai’s
streets.
The official religion in Dubai is Sunni Islam, but all non-Muslim groups can
practice their religion freely. Main minority religions are Sikhism, Hinduism
and Christianity.
The government of UAE does not allow permanent residence to foreigners. But all
foreigners can purchase and own properties in Dubai, so almost all of Dubai’s
businesses are run partly or completely by foreigners.
